exclamation Official statement by ATi in regards to SimCity4

Found this over at Rage3D

Quote:
"We recognize that ATI Video Cards do not scroll as fast as the game intended. This is an inherent conflict between the game scrolling technique and our memory tiling achitecture and not a hardware bug. We are working with Maxis to come to a better solution so please stay tuned."

Wouldn't you think something like that would be caught during testing?

And the Sim City franchise has been beat to death. Enough Already!

Tru,
but its nice to see ATI to come out and say something. Good to see that they are teaming up with the developers to get this fixed too.

Testing?
Yeah, they should of caught this. I wonder if they turned a blind eye seeing that they ( EA ) always points the fingers at ATI.

Oh well...
Ciao

What a shock! Lots of game companies are quite obviously bought by nVidia. When Neverwinter Nights came out, it just DID NOT WORK ON ATI CARDS. Their advice was to downgrade to ancient (year+ old) drivers. It took them a dozen patches to finally fix the flickering and flashing on ATI cards, and even their latest patches don't always enable the high-quality water effects. Bleh. Bought by nVidia - as evidenced by the big nVidia logo tattooed on their foreheads.

Seriously, I'm tired of the process I have to go through to get this 8500 to work consistantly.

I was gonna actually post something about this, but then I see this thread, and I am relieved to know that there is a possible fix in the works.

It's stupid that this game is ancient dx7 and this still is sooooo damn slow when i've got a city like 20k+ but I can play games like Rallicross and ut2003 at max details with good fps.
