Hi everyone

I recently reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled windows xp. Since then Ive been having a bit of trouble with some games.

I am using a Sapphire ATI 9800pro and Radeon Omega Drivers 2.6.87 (Catalyst 5.12)

I keep getting this weird problem whenever I tab out of CS source. Here is a screenshot of wats going on. The screen becomes clear once I start moving my mouse around, but its still annoying.

2) Quake4 will not start at all with the error message: unable to initialize OpenGL

Here is the section of the log:

--------------- R_InitOpenGL ----------------
Initializing OpenGL subsystem
...registered window class
...registered fake window class
...initializing QGL
...calling LoadLibrary( 'opengl32' ): succeeded
...calling CDS: failed, restart required
...trying next higher resolution:
...no high res mode found
Shutting down OpenGL subsystem
...wglMakeCurrent( NULL, NULL ): failed
...shutting down QGL
...unloading OpenGL DLL

Hi, supraboytt,

Welcome to DH!

After installing Windows XP, did you reinstall the Motherboard drivers from the CD that came with your computer/motherboard?

You don't list the specs for your computer, so, it's hard to give any specific advice.

However, if you have an Intel CPU, you need the Intel chipset drivers for your system. The same goes for if you have AMD and also whether you have VIA, SIS, or other chipset.

Also, be sure to install the latest DirectX from Microsoft.

Post back with a full computer spec list for further help.

The mainboard (motherboard) drivers will include the chipset drivers, yes. You might even check the mainboard manufacturer for more recent/updated ones.

Go to nVidia's website and install the nForce unified drivers, that should help clear things up
