??? Catalyst 5.13 or Omega Drivers 2.6.87 (Catalyst 5.12)

Hello guys,

i have been watching in nearly every Thread in this forum but havent found the right answer to my question.

I have bought a new graphic card. The X850 XT PE. And now i don't know which driver i should install. The normal Catalyst 5.13 from ATI or the modified drivers from Omega based on Catalyst 5.12. Maybe someone of you could help me with this decision.

Thx and bye

Always start off with official ATI Catalyst drivers then if everything is good give the omegadrivers a tryout.

Thank you for your answer OmegaRED, i will do so. But... Is there a reason why i should first try with ati catalyst and then if everything is ok try the omega?

And i have a new question. On the Omega Drivers Homepage i have found these information:

Quote:
The Omega Drivers are compatible with all ATI Radeon cards:
(it doesn't matter if they are DDR, SDR, PCI, PCI-E, AGP, Mobile, Retail, OEM or 3rd Party)

Radeon All In Wonder
Radeon 7x00/VE/LE
Radeon 8500/LE
Radeon 9x00/SE/Pro/XT/TX
Radeon xX00/SE/Pro/XT/PE
All Mobility Radeons (M6 and up)
Does it mean that my x850 card is not supported? Once they are writing that the driver are compatible with all ati radeon cards and further there is the part " Radeon xX00/SE/Pro/XT/PE".

Thats your card, it is supported.

Omegadrivers supposedly have slightly lower performance but higher image quality in games but they tend to have higher instances of bugs or incompatibilities with games that might not be present in ATI Catalyst drivers. Omegadrivers also don't use the Control Center and have some tweaks in them. Basically they are for advanced users or people looking for a feature not found in ATI drivers so you probably don't need them.

Thumbs Up!

Once more i have learned something. So far i thought that Omegadrivers have a better performance than the ati catalyst drivers. In my "old" System with the 9600XT i had better results in benchmarks with the Omegadrivers... But ok, i will try ATI Catalyst first with my new graphic card (hope i will receive the delivery today ).

The text in the row "Radeon xX00/SE/Pro/XT/PE" is confusing me furthermore. It should be called "Radeon xXX0/SE/Pro/XT/PE", right? Im just kidding, i don't want to bother you furthermore . I'm glad that you helped me. Thank you and bye.
