If I remembered correctly, it is supposed to be a X1k feature. Nothing in the R4xx generation.

Here's an article on Digit-Life with examples (it's an IQ discussion b/t the R520 and the G70).

Anecdotally, I think the HQ AF looks great, and it doesn't seem to exact any performance penalties.
