Any cat 6.1 mods that work with x1900 cards?

As the tiltle says? Any mods or 3rd party drivers that anyone has gotten to load 6.1's with x1900 cards?

Well, ExtremeATI drivers claims it supports X1900s... kinda fishy.

Spend $600+ hard earned dollars on a new release video card and then sit back and "wait" for a proper driver release? Why do I have a problem with that?

Give the modders time , will ya?
If you dom't want to wait, go to C:\ATI\SUPPORT\6-1_xp-2k_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_29602\Driver\2KXP_INF and copy all relevant X1900 info to the same folder in a modded driver file of your choice. The modded drivers will work, but they need the right .inf info to install.

Would you of rather of waited a month or two to buy your card? LOL"
drivers are made in "advance" and trickle thier way backwords meaning
thier working on say 6.3 even before 6.2 is finished or even released.

The final hardware has to show up before the final drivers can be properly
tweaked, unless you dick over all your customers you kinda have to do
something like this. and whats a week or two anyways???

easiecally since you have got drivers that do work just not as well as they
could.

R580 is diffrent there for it takes some time to get some more
mature drivers going. Thier hardware and software are universal
enough that the drivers be made to work thiere just not as good
as they could be...

I don't quite see how an inf would add the proper support to the
driver .dlls wait a minute its becouse they don't... it wiuld just
let you install 6.1 and have simular if not a worse set of problems...
so the point of doing so would be mute

since even ati has not issued new drivers for the card, one would assume that omegas 6.1 would work as well as ati's. All you need is an .inf that recognizes the card. Unless you think there are secret cat drivers only for the 1900?

1. There's no information about the x1900 in the 6.1 ATi driver, so he will not be able to use it in another driver set.

2. There's more to making a driver than simply identifying any card per se. Like Neon said, other information is needed.

To the owner of the x1900, didn't your card came with a driver disc? If not, you should wait till Cat 6.2 comes out and hope it works with the x1900.

Cat 5.13s would most likely be the ones that came with it and they have X1900 support as far as I know

It is a bit weird if you ask me too. However, it just maybe they had a certain driver set in mind to release with the card. The hardware was just ready to before the driver so they edited the current driver to work with it.

Cat 6.1 DOES support the X1900 but you can't download it as it comes included with the card. BTW if by any chance your card didn't come with the CAT 6.1 x1900 supported drivers as it is suppose to come i might get you those drivers.

The cd contains 5.13 drivers, not 6.1. the omega based 6.1's do work. All that asside, I am not impressed with the 1900xtx. The 7800/512 i have clocks better and scores higher, so i am somewhat dissapointed. maybe on a stock to stock comparison the ati wins, but otherwise . . .

yes there is more than just changing the inf to make a driver. However changing the inf will allow the card to be installed, and I haven't read about any special features that it has that the 1800 doesn't. And if he has the drivers that came with the card, he has the inf info he needs.

no but there are some things that the R580 does diffrently that for example
seem to be responceable for some 3dmark06 artifacts, Why? they drivers
aren't tuned properly to work propely with R580. Even when you have better
newer suporting drivers your still gong to see some issues to be resolved
thats a given.

The drivers where changed little from 5.13 to 6.1 again makeing such
a move pointless (with a few exceptions) for X1900 users. Think man
from 5.13 to 6.1 was like 2 weeks !! Not a full release time period...
driver builds can go forward backwar make turns and so forth it complicated.

Just becouse support was added to 5.13 doesnt mean they added the
support to 6.1. For all you know there could be magor issues with 6.1 on
a X1900. so it me since to just wait for the drivers that you know was intended for X1900 use.

5.13 is the driver found on the X1900 setup CD's (that shipped with all X1900's)

nvidias card show up in a month then we will see...

Also the $999 hard to find edition to not one to be pimping

there are bugs in the relese drivers. Shaders are handled diffrently hince
the resson reviewers seen bugs in 3dmark06... 5.13 was at lest itended
for use with X1900 and just becouse the drivers are 5.13 based . doesn't
mean thier 5.13 offical thier probubly a diffrent build..

Okay NC- when you get yours, let us know if the version number of the driver set is different from the official 5.13 you can download.
