Sad 6.2 CCC don't like 9800

The first time, Ati driver cause seriously poor performance on my 9800Pro flash BIOS to 9800XT, I check program process list, find there is one CLI.exe cause CPU usage varied, 0%-30%, look like a flash in 2-3 second. That will cause the game stutter obviously, as a lag. why?

1. core speed will be lowered at 297/351, but it should be 398/351
2. gamma seems very high in game, look not good as before
3. game performance is lower than any previous driver
4. even install NGO 6.2 CP package, the computer restart is very slow than before, still low performance.

If you've determined that CLI.exe is taking the toll on your CPU, you may want to try using a recent Omegadrive set with the older Classic ATI Control Panel and ATI Tray Tools. Just be meticulous about cleaning out the old driver, CCC, registry entries, etc...

Edit: For quick reference, a "basic" cleaning procedure is...

1) Download and expand (if zipped or otherwise compressed) the driverset and WDM file (if needed) to a convenient location.
2) Download and install the DH DriverCleaner program from this thread Read about the program and its use in the forum here
3) Using the Add/Remove Programs Windows Control Panel, uninstall the Catalyst Control Panel - do not reboot.
4) Using Add/Remove Programs, uninstall the ATI Display Driver - reboot into safe mode.
5) Run the DriverCleaner program using the appropriate filters, reboot into Windows normally.
6) Cancel out of Window's attempts to reinstall drivers, then run your chosen driverset installation.

No, as i said before, even NFO 6.2 CP package is not good, performance is lower than 6.1, just without stutter. back to 6.1 CCC, no any problem.

but the image quality is noticable much better in 6.2, look like texture sharpen.

finally got it work now, very strange, 6.2 driver with Ati Tray tool. Performance seems very good now.

Make sure you have installed (autopatcher XP rocks for this) and loaded
all your windows updates. make sure you have .net 1.1 and 2.0 installed...

I've never seen CLI.exe do that make sure your firewall or antivirus, or ther
3rd party software overclockers and tools etc... make sure thier not interfereing
by disableing or uninstling them.

BTW: ATI never released a 128MB 9800XT and it clocks are higer then those you
refer to are closer to a 9800 pro.

side note/ tip: never install CCC over CCC if you did that then uninstall CCC then
reinstall the the whole driver set.

(might be time to do a format and reinstall of your OS if it been more then 3 months
and depeding on weather you really use your system or not...)

I have to agree with you on the CCC slowdowns. The CCC sucked on both my systems.

The new one was a Sempron 2600 in a MSI 480 motherboard (built in video) and the other was a 2600+ barton in a Gigabyte (nvidia ultra 2), 9800Pro card.

Both systems experienced large slowdowns in booting and overall system response. I removed the CCC and in the case of the nvidia board, I was able to install the Omega drivers. Massive speed up.

well all I can say is when I tested before the diffence was 0% so as for slow
downs I'm skeptical unless you running a really old system in severe
need of an upgrade.....

You're skeptical of everyone having performance issues aren't you? You've been around a long time... but that doesn't give you license to undercut every negative hardware issue. The more you keep spouting the same "its your fault" nonsense - the less credibility you have. Sorry, but I'm tired of seeing intelligent individuals being told "your computer's at fault" by both NVidia and ATI perps. There's so much fanboyism everywhere it's difficult to get real help anymore.

Even with the Asus A8R-MVP people either hate its guts and crusade against it evil nature, or proclaim it's the new God of the Hyperkingdom tm. What happened to it just being a motherboard that works OK for some and others need some support?
