19 Flash Drive Roundup

19 Flash Drive Roundup

Conclusion (Tough Drives)

ATP ToughDrive mini 2GB
The ToughDrive mini stunned us during our laboratory testing. It is stylish and survived both of our extreme durability tests (being boiled to over 100c then being run over by a bus) while delivering a class leading performance, a very formidable package. Even more surprisingly the asking price of the ToughDrive mini is competitive for a device which combines top tier performance with extreme durability.

The ATP Toughdrive is our surprise of this group test and it outperforms anything else we tested today while being able to withstand extreme punishment. Class leading in all regards. This drive wins our Heavenly Hardware Best in Class Award.

Corsair Survivor 4GB
The Survivor was designed first and foremost to be able to withstand extreme physical abuse and/or environmental conditions, and Corsair designed it well. Water cannot damage the Survivor and it can sustain tonnes of pressure despite its large size. Speed wise the Survivor is very quick with an average read/write speed of 25MB/s. If you want a storage device which can survive a plane crash and you do not mind the bulky size of its metallic body, the Survivor is a great solution from a reputable company. This drive wins our Editor’s Choice Award.

Corsair Voyager 16GB
The Voyager is perhaps the oldest flash drive design which is still in production, this is proof enough that it is a very successful line of drives. With an average transfer speed of 22MB/s the Voyager is quick enough but it also is durable and offers excellent value for money. As you can see from our durability testing the Voyager cannot survive everything, but it balances a little bit of everything; competitive pricing, good looks, lightweight, durable body and good performance. It was the largest drive in our roundup and it also is the only drive in our roundup which can be found with a storage capacity up to 32GB today. Bottom line is that if you would like to own a high capacity flash disk drive which is a good all round performer, the Voyager will not disappoint you. This drive wins our Shortlist Award.
