Lost Planet

Lost Planet was tested at 1920×1200 with 4x anti aliasing and 16x anisotropic filtering. All game settings were at their maximum and DirectX 10 mode was used.

In Lost Planet we initially aimed for 8x anti-aliasing as our ideal figure but even on the Quad SLI system this was not possible with smooth framerates. The next step was to test with 4x anti aliasing and the performance figures took quite a substantial leap and most of the systems tested were playable, with the exception of the single 8800 Ultra. It is also worth noting that the 3-way and Quad SLI results are near identical, proving that four GPU’s are not always substantially better when paired with today’s processor technology.

That said, consumers who purchase the Quad SLI configuration have a futureproofed system which will be able to scale with forthcoming CPU’s. As an example a small overclock from 3.2 to 3.6 ghz on our system resulted in the Quad SLI average frames per second figure increasing by seven.
