Microsoft has announced the latest version of its online PC service, Games for Windows Live 3.0.
Most notable is that now users can purchase and access the marketplace while in game instead of having to quit. When players buy an item from the in-game marketplace, Games for Windows Live will download and install the item in the background. Previous purchases can also be re-downloaded if needed.
New anti-piracy features are included for Game publishers to take advantage of including Server-side authentication which can tie Gamertags to game licences, and zero day piracy protection which keeps games from launching before the street date set by the publisher.
