Toshiba has released their first HDTV which uses the powerful PS3 Cell processor during the CEATEC event in Japan.
As well as including the PS3 Cell CPU the 55 inch RegZA 55X1 encorporates LED backlighting, 240hz refresh rate and is topped off with a sexy contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1. As well as powerful processing capabilities the Cell CPU allows for stronger colours, enhanced brightness balance and a luminance of 1250cd/m2.
With a 7 speaker sound bar as standard and a built in browser created by Opera this is a serious high tech Television.
The icing on the cake is the 3TB of storage built into the tv which translates to around a day of 1080p recordings from 8 channels, at the same time. The Regza can also handle output from 8 channels at the same time with no delay when switching.
To wet your appetitie Toshiba have also stated that they will use the Cell CPU in a future panel to upconvert 1080p content to a whopping 3840×2160 resolution.
If you want one, be prepared to pay in excess of $11,000 next year.
