Apple alienate PC usergroup with smug new ads

There have been many debates on our forums in the last month about the recent Macintosh advertisments slating Windows 7 and attempting to extoil the virtues of the Macintosh Operating system. I am a personal fan of Apple products, but I get the feeling these ads are actually alienating a huge potential audience for Apple.

The latest Shenanigans comes in the form of their latest advertising campaign which I noticed on the front page of the New York Times website this morning. The focus is once again on Apple having the “best customer satisfaction record”. Apple claims that a huge portion of the PC userbase are switching to their computers for ease of use and ultimate lack of issues from viruses and other problems.

There is no doubt that Macs are actually gaining market share and we reported on this last week with recent percentage increases but we can’t help but feel that Apple are maybe taking their advertising campaign a little too far. I don’t know about you but I find the ‘dorky’ PC guy in these ads is much more approachable than the smug looking Apple dude in the ‘trendy’ clothes.

If you want to see it for yourself head over to the home page of The New York Times
