Apple are cutting their prices in the UK for a day on “Black Friday”. For those of you who aren’t very USA savvy, every year in the US they have a mega shopping sale the day after Thanksgiving holiday. If you are able to fight the hordes to make it to the local mall you can often end up with a bargain … like a 60 inch plasma for $10 (don’t email me I know this isn’t true).
Apple have a teaser ad up already showing items wrapped in a lovely little red bow with the tag “Happy Friday. Especially this friday.” It looks as if deals will be had on iPods, Apple TV, iPhones and other goodies. “Come back to the Apple Online Store this Friday for a special one-day-only shopping event. You’ll find lots of great Ipod, Iphone and Mac gift ideas — all with free shipping,” Apple say on the store.
Apple has not hinted at the specific items on offer, or just how good the prices will be, but you can sure that a few hundred thousand people will be hitting refresh at midnight to try and snag a bargain. Before you all get overly excited however we spoke with some UK punters earlier today who went to the last sale and apparently the prices were not that great. “I got a fiver off an iPod” said one of them, “it was hardly worth the effort heading into my Apple store”.
So a word of warning, if its a really cold day and its raining, maybe the online store is the best way to check – just don’t be expecting one of the new 27 inch Core i7 iMacs for £400.
