Asus have a great variety of laptops available on the market to cater for all requirements, from 17 inch monster gaming beasts to small portable units. Aimed firmly at the Ultra Thin Market comes their new UL30Vt unit which looks absolutely stunning.
The chassis is brushed aluminium and is very ‘Macbook like’ to these eyes. Inside Asus have opted for an ultra low voltage Intel CPU in the shape of the 1.2GHz Celeron SU2300 and for extra cost the 1.4ghz Core 2 Duo SU7300. Up to 4gb of DDR3 is offered and two GPU solutions are supplied with the Intel GMA X4500MHD or the Nvidia Geforce G210M.
After speaking with Asus today they informed us that using the onboard Intel solution means the machine will last for up to 12 hours, although we reckon nearer 10 as manufacturers tend to be overly ‘optimistic’ with their quotes. Still a massively impressive figure however.
The machine sports a 13.3inch panel at 720P resolution (1366×768) and you can add up to half a terrabyte of storage via the 2.5 inch drive. The usual wifi, bluetooth and ethernet is catered for and there is HDMI out which means the machine can easily connect to most modern day tv’s without any additional adapters. To round out connectivity there are three USB 2 ports, a four in one card reader and a webcam.
Additionally ASUS are encorporating “Turbo 33 Technology” which is a one process overclocking tool to allow for increases of up to 33percent.
No firm quotes on cost right now however we expect the price to be reasonably high with such a tasty specification. diminutive size and high quality metal finish.
