Corsair TX950W PSU

Corsair TX950W PSU

Corsair are a company very well known for their high quality and performance RAM modules however in 2008 and 2009 the company diversified into other areas of the market, such as high performance cooling products and PC enclosures.

Corsair probably hold the record for the most successful diversification attempt in the history of the PC-related products market with their ranges of power supply units. At the beginning Corsair launched only a small series of power supplies aimed towards enthusiasts, the “HX” series, which have been a great success. This was only the start however as after that they launched two additional series, the “TX” and “VX”. The VX series units are aimed towards the value-conscious PC users while the TX series consist of high output units but without unnecessary features or aesthetic add-ons, aimed towards enthusiasts who are seeking to get the best value out of their purchase. Both of these series have been a great success story for Corsair, who quickly became one of the biggest players in the PSU market.

Today we bring you the review of the latest and highly anticipated Corsair PSU; the TX950W. We reviewed many units of this series in the past, such as the TX850W and the TX650W, and they always were able to deliver an awesome price to performance ratio to potential customers. The company claims that the TX950W can deliver best-in-class performance at a very reasonable price.

Packaging and Bundle

The package may not be flowing with artwork but it is very well designed and very sturdy at the same time. There is a wealth of information on the unit’s features and electrical specifications around the sides of the box, as well as the number of connectors. Corsair secured the PSU between thick and soft Styrofoam pieces and noteworthy enough, they use both a nylon bag and a black pouch to enclose the PSU. The nylon bag is virtually useless but you could re-use the very nice black pouch for any given purpose.

Corsair also provides several black cable ties, black screws, a case sticker with the company logo, a small manual, a standard AC power cable and two Molex to floppy connector adaptors. The cables of the adaptors are not sleeved, but they all are black.
