Much like the 210/220 and 240 series nVidia are playing down the launch of their new 310 series graphics card and unfortunately we can understand why. The first 300 series product is only available to OEMs and is called the “Geforce 310”.
The card is not based on the upcoming Fermi architecture and is basically a GT200 series card with a GPU clocked at 589mhz and 16 stream processors clocked at 1,402mhz.
This card is little more than a rebranded GeForce 210 and has no significant improvements at all to warrant being the first card in the 300 series. We still have no date on Fermi, but we have heard the initial launch in January 2010 has been set back a few months.
