Nvidia GT240 released shortly

We have several samples of the GT240 with us and our reviews will be published shortly. We can pass on some information however as pricing details has reached our contacts – they look to be selling around the $99 mark.

The cards are built on the 40nm process and run at 550mhz core, with 96 shaders and shader clocks of 1360mhz. The memory used will be GDDR3 at 2000mhz and some manufacturers will offer GDDR5 at 3400mhz which should certainly ramp up bandwidth performance. The memory count on the cards is going to vary between 512mb and 1024mb and the bus will be 128 bit wide. We expect this card to be around the same performance as the 9800 GT before it. There are 8 ROPs, 32 texture filtering units and it will be based on a single slot design making it an ideal choice for HTPC enthusiasts on a budget especially as there will be HDMI to pair up with the VGA and DVI outputs.

The card supports DX 10.1 and Shader Model 4.1 and will have the obligatory Nvidia video acceleration methods. It should prove to be a big seller for Nvidia as this marketplace is were most of the money is made.
