DRAGONS AGE: ORIGINS: She asked him to check out the mole on her shoulder – “should I see a doctor?”

It is that time of the year again – when we start to think about what to buy our family and friends. If you have children then website Common Sense Media have an interesting article up with the 10 games which all self respecting parents should ‘blacklist’ for their kids. The sight of your son’s face when you hand him “Barbie’s Dress up” is sure to make for one of those ‘Kodak moments’.

On the list we have games such as Assassin’s Creed II which they say “playing as an assassin who relies on an arsenal of weapons makes the violence excessive.” – instead they offer up Mirrors Edge as an alternative (say what?).

Demon’s Souls is another title not recommended because “this game also has a depressing vibe. Because you constantly die, it can break the spirit of even the most seasoned gamer” – instead they recommend Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars doesn’t escape the hatchet because “players can use the services of prostitutes, run over pedestrians, and kill police officers.” – a great alternative is apparently C.O.P. The Recruit.

Dragon Age: Origins – one of the best RPG titles this year gets a mention, not for the camp fire sex scenes but for the “decapitations and swords plunged deeply into monsters’ chests.” – apparently its not cool to kill a monster, but its fine to have meaningless sex with five members of your party. If you don’t want to get this for your young son they recommend Braid instead, a game which … yep, is absolutely nothing like Dragon Age: Origins.

So there you have it parents, if your child wants a computer game this Christmas, not only do you have a website to guide you on the right path but you can choose from a variety of alternatives which are basically nothing like the game on your kids Santa List. If he or she complains I guess you could say that Santa is getting old and he has issues ordering the correct games online.
