Akasa Freedom Force – The Cooler

The Freedom Force is quite a bulky cooler due to the two white LED 80mm cooling fans mounted on it. Because of its large size, the Freedom Force will cover most of the graphics card and on some models will be bigger than the PCB. The cooler is also fairly thick, meaning that it will block two expansion slots beneath the card. The two fans are sleeve bearing models and have a maximum rotational speed of 2200RPM. At 2200RPM the 80mm fans are nearly inaudible; this should not pose a problem but unfortunately there is no way to control the speed of them unless you connect to the motherboard directly and control their speed through its BIOS.

Akasa used four heatpipes to disperse heat from the core across the aluminum fins. The heatpipes are designed to come in direct contact with the core which is an efficient cooling design however not all of them will be used on every card as GPU cores vary in size. The base of the cooler is not polished down to a mirror finish and that is understandable as the two different materials would make that very hard to achieve. Despite that, it still is very smooth and well made.
