Asus are claiming battery life of up to 14 hours with the new Pinetrail based SeaShell 1001P, 1005P and 1005PE systems. This is apparently partially down to their new Super Hybrid Engine Technology.
All of these new Seashell models are formed around a core of the Atom N450 CPU and feature the Super Hybrid Engine Technology which apparently adjusts the power consumption depending on what the machine is doing at the time. It sounds like a very sophisicated power saving routine however as we have yet to see it in action we can only assume it reduces clocks and voltages when in various non 100% load states.
We are slightly sceptical of the claimed 14 hour battery life, however if we even were to see 12 its still quite an achievement.
