Kaspersky have decided to use the Tesla platform to improve on security. The Russian security giant have incorporated Tesla S1070 systems into their security network to boost client protection. They are claiming that the Tesla system managed to outperform a Core 2 Duo (2.6ghz) by a factor of 360 (yes 360 times faster!).
Kaspersky have reauthored their similarity algorithms and optimised them to perform hundreds of thousands of instructions at the same time. By using the CUDA SDK development environment specifically for this purpose they allow programs to be written for the latest generations of nVidia graphics hardware in traditional programming languages. When this rolls down to the mainstream audience it will certainly help promote GPGPU to a wider audience.
