EA Sports To Try Their Hand At Fitness Game?

Developers are always finding new ways to get you interacting with your console at the moment. More and more are focused on the idea of promoting fitness, as well as actually enabling you to burn off calories while you play. The trend doesn’t show any sign of stopping and EA Sports have strongly hinted they will be entering the genre soon.

A few weeks ago EA dropped a hint that it might be announcing something coming out of the Sports division of their games relating to fitness. This was followed up by EA Canada Community Manager Alain Quinto delivering a tweet that they will be revealing a brand new game in January for the Wii.

It seems that this game, if industry insiders are to be believed, will be a game called “NFL Trainer” that will be designed to give gridiron fans something new compared to the usual NFL game. This time they will actually be going through a fitness regime and learning the techniques required for players in key positions.

The game will supposedly come with a football shaped attachment, which will be used for practicing quarterback throws, but there will also be fitness drills included in the game.

Of course EA are remaining tight lipped until January but the cat might already be out the bag. It will remain to be seen whether the game receives a European release also, but the popularity of the John Madden series might mean that European players can try their hand at playing the other kind of football some time in 2010.
