Golden Mag had been originally planned for a release at the back end of 2009, but fine-tuning pushed that back to early 2010. The open beta will be out on the 4th January ahead of the revised release date. The date will be subject to passing classification in the European region, although having already been approved in other markets they do not envisage any problems.
The open beta will be available to all regions and will run until January 10th, giving gamers only a small window of opportunity to enjoy the huge, sprawling firefights the game has promised. The beta client is available to download for North American users as of today, although Sony has made it clear that users won’t be able to start playing the game until the official date.
The game comes with a good pedigree having been developed by the creators of SOCOM and is looking to take multi-player games to previously unexplored heights with a huge environment and vast numbers of players all interacting at once. Players will also assume ranks with the higher ranking users being responsible for commanding large groups of players and achieving tactical objectives.
The beta client is expected to be available to other regions shortly.
