Palm smartphone sales drop

Palm have been trying hard to enhance company sales however they said yesterday that their sales figures have declined slighty from the previous quarter. All is not doom and gloom however as they also said their figures are up from year on year reports.

Palm stated that they have adjusted their net loss and shipped 783,000 smartphones to retailers in the 2nd fiscal quarter ending November 27th. This was up 41 percent when compared with the 2nd quarter in 2008. They also reported a net loss of $85.4 million in the second quarter.

Unfortunately they failed to meet Wall Street’s expectations and the sell through rate showed that the phones are down 4 percent year over year. Jonathan J. Rubinstein, the companies Chief Executive said “We’re still in the early stages of a long race”.

Their shares declined more than 8 percent during the after hours trading.
