We reported a while ago about a plethora of issues that owners of the very popular new iMac series were experiencing. A web designer Scott Proncyh in Bedford, Nova Scotia has taken it a stage further and has started a new website to document all the issues – its called imac.squeaked.com and he encourages people with similar problems to help him file them all.
This site gets data from the Apple support forums and Scott Proncyh has collected information on 280 problem iMacs. So far, 173 have arrived with flickering displays, 51 have arrived with cracked glass (42 in the bottom left corner) and 11 have had boot issues. As well as these rather major issues there are people reporting dead pizels, noisy hard drives and noisy fan systems.
Most of these problems have occured with the Intel Core i7 machines – the model with the 27 inch screen – and it is worth pointing out that these are the ‘built to order models’ only available via configuration on the web.
