If you want something smaller than everyone else then Via’s new Mobile ITX might be just the ticket – it is fifty percent smaller than the already miniscule Pico ITX format and has support for a plethora of functionality.
The 6cm square system delivers a built in processor, memory and chipset with input and output support offered by various daughterboards. While we wonder how small it will actually be with all the daughterboards inserted it at least offers various manufacturers the chance to tailor their specific systems to their own desires – getting the job done without using a larger footprint than necessary.
The Mobile ITX format has a tiny power draw of 5w under foll load and comes supplied with a 12w power supply to power it and future daughterboard expansion.
We have yet to receive pricing but VIA are set to release the first product in Q1 of 2010 – we think this is incredibly exciting because the possiblities for end products are almost endless.
