CES: MS keynote points

CES: MS keynote points

The recently leaked Game Room was officially announced at CES, allowing a number of retro titles to be played in a unique destination, currently looking very similar in design to that of Electronic Arts Hasbro Family Game Night, but offering many more titles over time.

Project Natal was also showcased at the event with an impressive video demonstrating the functionality and revealing some of the technology behind it and Microsoft also managed to find time to have a dig at Nintendo’s motion controller. It remains to be seen if this technology can be fully utilised by developers even if Microsoft are confident, we have seen it all before from Nintendo of course, however we wont have to wait long for this new technology as Microsoft confirmed it will hit the market before the end of this year.

There were also demonstrations at the event of new car technology built on the Windows platform and a plethora of game announcements including Mass Effect 2 (which we already knew, although it has also been announced that the game will be available on Steam now) and news that the next Call of Duty title will be available on the 360 exclusively, at least for a little while.

The final snippet of the conference also revealed interesting suggestions of players being able to purchase games on the PC and play them on the 360, although no firm evidence was shown, the point remains an interesting way of getting those PC gamers on to the console.
