German site netbooknews.de has claimed it benched an Acer 532G at the Mobile World Conference 2010 using 3DMark03.
Unfortunately for NVIDIA the scores are not flattering, the ION2 was only able to gain a score of 3049 compared to a regular ION LE which had a score of 3593.
NVIDIA told TG Daily that they doubt the accuracy of the score of netbooknews.de and Hardware Heaven would be inclined to believe them. The score was obtained on a netbook that was not run in proper test conditions and it is entirely possible that Acer’s 532G is using an ION2 chipset at reduced clock rates or that the Atom processor is causing a bottleneck.
For comparison an Atom with integrated Intel graphics manages a 3DMark03 score of around 750 points. Still this is embarrassing news for NVIDIA and we would suspect Acer too.
