The Gold Edition of Resident Evil 5 has topped the Japanese gaming charts. Not bad for a re-release of a title with some already available DLC thrown in for good measure.
The PS3 version sold 143,339 copies to earn the top spot, however the Xbox 360 version barely scratched the surface. But it wasn’t this title that was notable in the charts this week.
Heavy Rain managed to end up in sixth, but only sold 26,775 copies, perhaps due to some of the technical difficulties reported earlier in the week.
In second spot was the PSP based clone of the Monster Hunter game, called God Eater, followed by the New Super Mario Bros title on Wii.
Nintendo have done very well in the top ten with Wii Fit Plus still selling strong at seventh despite the length of time it has been released. There were also three DS titles in the top ten, including Dragon Quest VI, Friend Collection and Revenge of Arcadia.
Nintendo and Sony were also level when it came to hardware. The DS system had combined sales of 44,821 units, with the PSP not far behind at 34,167. The Ps3 was slightly ahead of Wii at 32, 130 units, with the Nintendo system at 31,652.
Bad news for the Xbox 360 sales though – they were only at 2453 units, not far ahead of PS2 sales at 1883.
