Virgin Promises 100Mb Broadband

Virgin Promises 100Mb Broadband

Virgin Media have promised its UK customers that they will be able to get up to 100Mb broadband speeds by the end of this year.

Virgin already offer its UK customers a maximum speed of 50Mb for £38 a month. Later this year Virgin will be able to offer 100Mb to customers and even 200Mb to some customers. Virgin is already testing 200Mb broadband speeds in some parts of the UK.

The UK cable network has changed hands so many times, originally implemented by NYNEX, moving on to Cable and Wireless, then NTL/Telewest and now Virgin. It seems Virgin has the right recipe though as its revenues are up and has a 4.1 million customer base for its broadband services.

Whilst Virgin have not ruled out the use of traffic management it is hard to see how Virgin will be able to offer its 100Mb service if the service is popular.
