AMD AIB partner Sapphire let us know about their new 2GB 5850 Radeon card.
Even for cards with 1GB can run out of video memory at resolutions like 2560 x 1600 with anti-aliasing added in modern games as well as the need for more memory for the ultra-high resolutions when spanning across three monitors for Eyefinity like 7860 x 1600.
With that in mind Sapphire have launched a new product in their TOXIC range, Sapphire HD 5850 2G TOXIC Edition:
“Designed for the enthusiast or demanding user, the SAPPHIRE HD 5850 2G TOXIC Edition is factory overclocked to 765MHz core and has 2GB of high speed DDR5 memory clocked at 1125MHz (4500MHz effective). SAPPHIRE’s World leading Vapor-X technology not only allows the cards to run as much as 15 degrees C cooler* and 10dB quieter* than the standard models, it provides additional headroom for further performance tuning (overclocking).”
Power consumption is at 160 watts with a super low power idle mode of just 30 watts – an impressive feat for a card with 72 Texture Units and 1440 Stream Processors that is factory overclocked.
