AMD to use GLOBALFOUNDRIES

AMD will be using GLOBALFOUNDRIES 28nm node technology for its Radeon series.

Xbitlabs has reported that AMD is obliged to use GLOBALFOUNDRIES 28nm node technology that is on schedule to go live by 2011 for its GPU’s.

AMD already use GLOBALFOUNDRIES for its processors currently at 45nm SOI but graphics processing chips use the bulk process. As previously reported GLOBALFOUNDRIES is planning two 28nm versions, a High Performance and Low Power version. GLOBALFOUNDRIES is known to be working with other partners to develop their 28nm technology.

““The first intersection of our AMD GPUs and Globalfoundries are on the 28nm. We haven’t been public with respect to any timing there,” said Dirk Meyer”
