Intel are set to release a new Intel Atom processor the D525.
The new processor is meant to be running at 1.8GHz, up from the 1.66GHz of its older sibling and support both DDR2 and DDR3 memory. The processors TDP remains low at 13W for the dual core version and 10W for the single core D425 according to Fudzilla.
Intel is feeling pressure this year in the netbook market from both ARM based devices and AMD’s entry into the market. HP and Dell have also decided to either exit the market or scale down production due to strong competition and small margins in the 10 inch and lower markets.
