Rockstar Leeds Is Getting Staffers For A New PC Based Project

Its in the DNA of Rockstar Games to keep things close to their chest. Often no one knows when their games will be released let alone what they have in the pipeline. For the past eight years Rockstar Games have run a tight ship that has been almost entirely devoid of any leaks, save for the recent release a new L.A. Noire trailer two days before it was supposed to hit the net.

We know that Rockstar are keeping busy by developing new games, some of which were bound to never see. But today we have an interesting tidbit in the form of a job posting made for Rockstar Leeds, which could mean a few different things. In the Rockstar Games family, Rockstar Leeds is a small but important branch of the Rockstar empire which up until now has focused entirely on the PSP/DS Grand Theft Auto games such as GTA: Chinatown Wars. Well thats changing now as Rockstar Leeds is on the search for a Graphics Programmer for a new PC project.

Sometimes job postings dont tend to mean anything, but its interesting to see Rockstar Leeds make the jump from the handhelds to the PC and possibly the HD consoles. The job posting itself didnt make note of anything that could fill us in on what the firm at Leeds has planned so that leads us with two possibilities: Rockstar Leeds is either possibly doing a PC port of an old game, say Red Dead Redemption or L.A. Noire, or the studio is staffing up for developers on a new project or help with an existing one like the currently limbo ridden Max Payne 3.

Theres really no knowing what Rockstar Leeds is up to since Rockstar Games wont tell anyone a peep until they deemed it to be the proper time, which is one of the many reasons why I admire the company so much. If Im a betting man I would have to put my money on Rockstar Leeds doing a port of L.A. Noire mainly because I think Rockstar may be adamant on putting that on as many platforms as possible in the hopes of recouping some of the high production costs that have been associated with it. But in the back of my mind I cant help but be intrigued at the possibility of Rockstar Leeds doing an original title, like a MMO of some sort, or even doing early tech prep for the next generation of consoles.
