Call of Duty: Black Ops

Call of Duty Black Ops was released in the final quarter of 2010 and we took an initial look at performance in our GTX 580 articles. Now with a little more game time under our belts and a demanding section of gameplay located we have more complete performance figures for this best-selling title.

This test was completed at 1920×1080 with 4x anti-aliasing and maximum in game details.

As noted above we first took a look at Black Ops performance when we tested the GTX 580 desktop chip. It therefore feels right to do the same with the GTX 580M and we are pleased to report that the new mobile GPU plays this game flawlessly too. At 1920×1080 we are able to turn the graphics options to their maximum and enable 4x anti-aliasing while averaging 49fps. We did try 8x anti-aliasing too and while it was almost playable we felt there were a few too many stutters to be acceptable.

Still, 1920×1080 with maximum detail and 4x anti-aliasing, great figures for a mobile GPU.

Here is an example of how the game looks at our tested settings.
