3DMark 2011

3DMark was tested using the Extreme profile.

Benchmark Results

We start the performance section of this review with a quick look at how the ASUS GTX 680 compares to the current fastest single GPU products from NVIDIA and AMD in the latest 3DMark. In this scenario we see that there is a significant increase from 580 to 680, nearly 1000 points. The new GTX also improves on the reference 7970 by nearly 500 points while coming close to the performance of the 7970 at its maximum stable overclock. When we apply the GTX 680 maximum stable overclock it moves into a class of its own though.

Speaking of overclocks, from this point on in the review we are going to run the 7970 Lightning at its maximum stable speed of 1265/1505MHz and the ASUS GTX 680 at its limit of 1218MHz Boost, 7096MHz memory.
