ZOWIE are already known for their input devices with uncompromising functionality, which truly deserve the “Pro-Gaming” label. ZOWIE push for perfection and this is clearly shown in their latest evolution of the EC-Series. While the exterior only features a new surface, inside, the new mouse flexes its muscle. The EC eVo mouse utilises the same sensor as the Zowie AM mouse, which is known for its high level of precision and ability to transfer even the smallest movements accurately on the screen.
Since the inception of the mouse in the year 1968 its functionality has not changed. As an input device, not even the touch screen has managed to replace the mouse in recent years, as no method is as precise and allows for as many complex manoeuvres. The supremacy in combination with a keyboard shows when playing fast paced First Person Shooters, which require accurate and quick reactions. In such a situation it would be fatal for a mouse to lag or fall short in translating the movements precisely.
The designers from ZOWIE have made it their goal to offer the best input devices to the ambitious gamer, who needs to focus on being the best at what they do. Thus, ZOWIE utilises the same high-performance ADNS-3090 sensor found in the AM (GS) mice. Contrary to other sensors, the ADNS-3090 does not correct the movements of the user, while other solutions straighten them out, which leads to inexact results on the screen. Such an implementation creates squares out of circular movements or straight lines when doing a jagged line. All this impedes the gamer and that is why ZOWIE has ensured the best translation of movements with the new sensor.
The focus is to deliver uncompromising performance is also reinforced when taking a closer look at the specifications of the ZOWIE EC eVo Pro-Gaming series. Select between 450, 1.150 and 2.300 DPI by using a switch on the underside and start gaming. ZOWIE mice do not require additional software and thus keep system resources free to use for actual games instead. Any fine tuning can be done in the game itself. For maximum compatibility, you may set the mouse to 125, 500 or even 1.000 Hz polling rate when plugging it in.
To ensure a constant and long lasting experience, ZOWIE has utilized Huano switches along with an optical sensor to track the mouse wheel movement. The 2 metre long mouse cable is soft and flexible, so that the movement of the 100 Gram mouse is not impeded, while the rubberised surface maximises comfort and grip. Thanks to a special lens in the sensor, the lift-off distance of the ZOWIE EC eVo mice is a mere 1.5 mm, virtually eliminating unwanted movements when repositioning the mouse on any surface.
While the AM series features an ambidextrous design, the EC eVo units are intended for the right handed gamer, to ensure the most comfortable shape and maximise it for long gaming sessions. The EC1 eVo is the slighter larger unit with a size of 128 x 43 x 62-70 mm, while the EC2 eVo clocks in at 120 x 40 x 58-65 mm. The design has been kept as clean as possible, with only the coloured LED in the mouse wheel telling the user what DPI level has been set.
