Cooler Master HAF XM Case – Internal

Cooler Master HAF XM internal view
Removing the left side panel allows us to see the inside of the system which, like the outside is completely black. All motherboard standoff locations are marked and there is a CPU cut-out to assist with the installation or removal of larger coolers. Numerous cut outs are also present, with rubber grommets, which assist with case wiring and the spacious main chamber supports E-ATX, ATX and micro-ATX motherboards as well as large graphics cards such as the Radeon 7970/GTX 690. (Maximum card size 13.9/18.2 inch with/without cage)

As noted earlier Cooler Master leave plenty of space behind the motherboard for our wiring and included here are raised sections we can use to attach the cable ties when wiring the case. Also present is a mount for a single 2.5" drive.

At the bottom left corner of the case we can see the location for the PSU which features four rubber sections to reduce vibration. Beside this is a removable cover which hides our wiring and above the PSU location are the add-in card slots which use thumbscrews for installation along with the aforementioned 14cm exhaust fan (12cm compatible bay).

Up at the top of the case are the fan bays.

Down the right of the case we find the drive bays which, as standard, allow tool free installation of 3x 5.25" devices. Below these are two hot swap bays and beneath those two drive cages which allow installation of three drives each. Rubber vibration dampeners are provided for individual 3.5" drives and 2.5" devices are supported in all 8 bays.
