Test System / Temperatures

Cooler Master HAF XM

Intel Core i7-990X
3x 4GB Kingston HyperX DDR3-1600
Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition
Gigabyte X58A-UD7
Cooler Master 800w Silent Gold PSU
1x 240GB OCZ Agility 3 SSD (OS)
2x 2TB WD Green SATA Drives

Case temperatures were measured using AIDA64, Realtemp GT and GPUz after 10 minutes of the case sitting with no activity and 10 minutes of each load test. Load was applied to the system using Prime95 and Furmark. Ambient room temperature during testing was 23°C.

(NOTE: The object of this test is not to compare the results with alternative products as there are too many factors which can impact thermal performance.)

Results

In terms of performance from the HAF XM we have a case which, in its default configuration, manages to push (and pull) a lot of air. There is a good flow through the case and that assists our GPU and CPU coolers in performing optimally. Noise levels are also decent with the case near silent at variable RPM and full RPM also remaining very reasonable as the video below shows.

Video was recorded with the chassis on the floor and the camera was positioned around 1 foot away.
