Installation and Performance

We are testing the Dark Knight on an 1155 motherboard with the highest specification CPU for that socket but the steps for other sockets are very similar. The main difference being that for 2011 CPUs we use the stock Intel clamp/backplate and screw Xigmateks bolts into it.

We start the install by placing the plastic backplate on our motherboard, lining up the appropriate holes. Next we lay spacers on the top side and screw bolts through them and the PCB into the backplate. Next we attach the appropriate bracket for our CPU using thumbscrews.

After applying thermal paste to our CPU we place the heatsink on it and pass the bundled bar through the heatsink, tightening the screws on to the brackets from the last step. As a final step we attach the fans to each side using the rubber attachments provided by Xigmatek and plug each into our motherboard.
