Corsair AX860 Power Supply Review

As far as build quality and design go it is always a great start to see a company like Corsair base their unit around a Seasonic design and they clearly have faith in the unit, offering a 7-year warranty. Externally the simple chassis will look good in pretty much any system and the red/silver highlights may well fit in nicely with the likes of ASUS Maximus boards and Corsairs Red Vengeance memory… or maybe a set of their platinum modules. Inside the good quality continues with some nice soldering, minimal clutter, tidy wiring and quality branded components.

We also think that Corsair made a great move in going with six PCIe connectors on this unit. That decision means we can run three cards in SLI, or at least have that as a future upgrade option without needing convertors.

For performance the 12, 3.3 and 5v results were all good with efficiency easily meeting the Platinum spec. Temperatures were good too with impressive AC Ripple readings also. The highlight is of however the unit’s ability to run fanless up to 60% load which means for the majority of systems it will offer silent operation for the majority of tasks.

In terms of value Corsair always price their units competitively and the AX860 is no different. At £150/$199 there is little to fault here. A top quality unit.
