Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Ultrabook – External Features

When most people are shopping for an Ultrabook it is probably fair to say they seek out a metal construction, often looking for that Macbook feel. With the X1 Carbon Lenovo take a different route building the chassis using Carbon fibre with a soft touch finish. At the front corners we have the branding logos and at the back left two external LEDs which let us know the power and battery status. Flipping the system over we find various vents and four rubber feet provide stability on our desk, stopping the machine from moving. At 18.8mm thick and weighing 1.36KG in a 14" form factor the X1 is also extremely portable (13.03×8.9×0.70inches).

Down the right side of the system we find our Kensington lock slot, USB 3.0 port DisplayPort output, 3.5mm audio and 4-in-1 card reader. Over at the left side we have the main exhaust vent, USB ports with charge function and power input. An airplane mode switch also makes an appearance on the left and then round at the back is our 3G SIM card slot.
