Vita firmware update 2.60 released

Enjoy new PlayStation Plus features and much more in this update for your PS Vita system.

An update to the PS Vita system software was released on 6 August 2013. If you update your PS Vita system, the system software version will be 2.60 and the following features will be updated.

A PS Vita system software update is required to use PlayStation Network features and some features on the system. Also, downloading and installing the PS Vita system software update will update your PS Vita system’s operating system to include the latest security patches, as well as new and revised applications, features and settings. It is recommended that you always maintain your system to use the latest version of the system software.

Main features in system software update version 2.60

PlayStation Network

  • You can now access [PlayStation®Plus] from the LiveArea™ screen of each game, making it easier for you to upload and download your saved data.

Note: You’ll need a PlayStation Plus subscription to use this.

Music/ Video

  • You can now play content saved on a connected device, such as a PlayStation 3 system or a computer, without copying the content to your PS Vita.
  • Select the connected device from the list of categories, and then tap the content to play it instantly.
  • The Content Manager Assistant for PlayStation® on your computer must be updated to the latest version to use this feature.


  • [Bluetooth® Settings] has been moved from [Network] settings to the newly added [Devices] settings.

  • You can now adjust network features from the menu that appears when you press and hold the PS button. From the displayed menu, tap the feature you want to turn on or turn off.

Other new or revised features in version 2.60

Home screen

  • You can now use the PS Vita system’s buttons to customize the home screen. On the home screen, when you press a button on the PS Vita system, the cursor appears on the screen. To enter edit mode, press the Triangle button while the cursor is displayed.


  • The method for displaying the menu in PSP Game software and PlayStation format software has been changed. When a game is running, press and hold the PS button to display the menu.


  • You can now choose which games you want to share trophy information for.
  • Tap [PlayStation®Network], and then tap the game you want to adjust settings for. Go to [Options] > [Privacy Settings] > [Show Trophies for This Game] to set a checkmark to enable this setting.


  • You can now adjust playback settings, such as those for the screen and subtitles, while watching a streaming video on a Web page. To access, go to [Options] > [Settings] during playback.

Content Manager

  • The method for adjusting saved data auto-upload settings has been changed. Settings adjusted on the [Information] screen for each saved data item can now be adjusted with [Select Saved Data] under [Content Manager] > [Start] > [Online Storage] > [Saved Data Auto-Upload]. To use this feature, a subscription to PlayStation Plus is necessary.


  • [Show Trophies] has been added under [PlayStation®Network] > [Privacy Settings], and you can now adjust the range of who can see information about your earned trophies.


  • Do not download or install the update using data other than the official update data provided online or on a PS Vita card by Sony Computer Entertainment. Do not download or install updates by methods other than those described in the system documentation or on this website. If you download or install update data from a different source, by a different method, or on a PS Vita system that has been altered or modified in any way, the PS Vita system might not operate properly and might not be able to install the official update data. Any of these actions can void the PS Vita system warranty and affect your ability to obtain warranty services and repair services from Sony Computer Entertainment.
  • This update is for PS Vita systems purchased in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Africa, Gulf states and India. Do not update your PS Vita system using this website if you purchased your system outside of these regions. There is no guarantee of proper operation with models sold outside of these regions. For details about PS Vita systems purchased outside of Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Africa, Gulf states and India, please visit the website for your region.
  • Do not turn off the power or remove the memory card for the PS Vita system during the update process. Interrupting the update can cause a system malfunction.‎
  • It might not be possible to start the update if the battery charge level is low.‎
  • The power button and the PS button do not function during the system update process.
  • You might not be able to use some applications or content without first updating the system software.
