Apple announced its 5th generation iPad, the iPad Air. The new 9.7-inch category-defining tablet from Apple is slimmer (43% slimmer bezel), shorter, thinner, and lighter; while featuring a ton of enhancements, including Apple’s A7 chipset, M7 motion chip, iOS 7, and more.
The 64-bit A7 chipset features a CPU that’s 8 times faster than the the one inside the first-generation iPad, and a GPU that’s 72 times faster. It features the same 9.7-inch screen with 2048 x 1536 pixels resolution, in the 4:3 format. The device ships with iOS 7 out of the box. It features 5-megapixel iSight camera on both ends, improving FaceTime chats. It features an upgraded connectivity feature-set, which supports more LTE bands, and 802.11 b/g/n WiFi at 300 Mb/s, with MIMO. Available from November 1st, it starts at $499.99. The iPad 2 will remain in the product stack, starting at $399.
