Overclocking

As we noted earlier in the review Gigabyte offer various ways to overclock and tweak our system, we can for example tweak the system in EZTune in Windows. An alternative is to use the BIOS real time changes for our overclocks, our preferred method, and the result of our testing is shown below.

Benchmark

For this test we were running our CPU on Corsair’s H100 cooler at maximum fan/pump speed which allowed us to hit 5.2GHz using the G1.Sniper Z87 and our i7-4770K. That is a similar speed to the Hero board and a little above the G45. As a side note, the Sniper 5 does go a little higher on the same voltage, 5.3-5.4GHz max.
