64-bit Octa-Core BlackBerry Flagship Coming This Year

Product image

According to a report by Pocket-Lint, the previously rumored 64-bit Octa-core BlackBerry flagship won’t be arriving in 2015. Instead, the report says that we may see a superpower BB in late 2014. Truly, such a device would take the entire world by storm, but is the specifications bogging down BlackBerry 10 handset sales?

Anyways, citing internal sources, Pocket-Lint reports that the unnamed BlackBerry device will pack an octa-core Snapdragon MSM8994 (core clock of 2.5 GHz) from Qualcomm, which is said to be built on ARMv8 64-bit architecture. Also, the chipset is said to support OpenGL 3.0, which should help enhance graphics performance. But then again, we come back to our question. Will such a wonder device help save the ship from sinking? Support for Android apps has already been added with BB OS 10.2, but that didn’t serve as a shot in the arm when it comes to sales, as hoped.
