NETGEAR D6200 WiFi Modem Router Wireless AC Review
Today we will be taking a look at the NETGEAR D6200, a 802.11AC dual band gigabit wireless router. The D6200 features a built-in ADSL2+ modem and supports the new AC standard. This offers speed up to three times of that we’ve seen with 802.11N rated models, ideal for the connected home, which now has multiple devices between set top boxes, PCs, laptops, tablets or mobile phones.
Packaging and Bundle
The D6200 is supplied in a matt finished box which features a large picture of the modem on the front. Some of the key features of the D6200 are highlighted on the front of the package, including the NETGEAR Genie app to support configuration and the Beamforming+ technology which provides a more reliable wireless connection.
Turning to the back of the package we find a complete breakdown of the features of the D6200 and more on the NETGEAR Genie app. NETGEAR also provide a quick comparison guide between the wifi technologies that they current use in their product range. This includes the N600, AC1200 and AC1600 standards. The D6200 uses AC1200 dual band wireless, and this short comparison guide gives us as the consumer quick confirmation that this is the standard that meets our needs.
Turning to the end of the package we find more technical detail on the D6200. We also find a list of the package contents and a note that NETGEAR offer a two year warranty on the product.
Finally NETGEAR have provided a number of additional items along with the main router. In the bundle we have a single CAT5 network cable, an RJ45 phone cable, an ADSL2+ phone filter (for UK markets) and the current power supply. We are pleased to see NETGEAR continue to use the smaller form factor in their new power supplies, much better than the large brick style that they used to provide. There is also product documentation which includes a quick start guide along with product licence and warranty information.
