Product image

After years of delay, Samsung finally announced the first consumer-grade Tizen Smartphone. Dubbed simply as Samsung Z, the device pairs the display of a Galaxy S III (4.8″ HD Super AMOLED) with the powerful Snapdragon 800 chipset. There’s 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of expandable storage and a 2,600 mAh battery to boot. You get an 8 MP rear camera and 2.1 MP front module.

Now, coming to the real matter at hand. The Samsung Z runs Tizen OS 2.2.1. It’s skinned using a UI that looks similar to TouchWiz, yet it is different. You’ll find software features such as S Health 3.0 and Download Booster.

The phone is 138.2mm tall and is 8.5mm thick and will only be available in two colors, for now. Samsung will begin selling the Z in Russia sometime after July. No word on an international release or pricing as of yet.
