TP-Link Archer VR900 Review

http://www.mubs.edu.lb/?arial-or-times-new-roman-for-dissertation Arial Or Times New Roman For Dissertation There was a period when it felt like the ADSL router market had stagnated. Cable routers were offering newer designs, higher specifications and more advanced features but the ADSL versions were not being updated. Part of this is no doubt due to the limited speed of older ADSL and part of it is likely the cost involved as many have a built in modem where as Cable routers more often than not use an external modem. With advances in broadband things are much closer speed wise and todays review product looks to cater for pretty much any consumer, ADSL, VDSL 2 or Cable, welcome to our  TP-Link Archer VR900 Review.

Comment Faire Une Dissertation De Philosophie TP-Link go with a white and silver design for the VR900 and have a fairly plain glossy plastic panel on the front. There are a line of status LEDs along the top which give us basic info on the router operation and then on the right edge we find one of two USB ports (this one 2.0). These allow support for printers and 3G/4G dongles.

We have reset and power and then the ports start with our VDSL/ADSL input (for the internal modem suppporting 100Mbps VDSL 2, ADSL2+, ADSL 2 ad ADSL) then goes through USB 3.0, four GB LAN ports and ends with power in. The fourth port is also a WAN port so anyone with an external modem, whether its ADSL, VDSL or Cable can connect here and use this as a standard router without modem.

The three RP-SMA antenna which are bundled with the router screw into the top and have a joint which allows them to be angled to your preference. It is also worth noting the three buttons almost hidden on the side, one to disable the LEDs, one to disable the Wi-Fi and one to allow quick connections via WPS.

For those interested in signal strength, the antenna gain is 3x2dBi for 2.4GHz and 3x3dBi for 5Ghz, transmit rating is <20dBm(EIRP).

TP-Link Archer VR900 Review – Conclusion

Starting with the build quality of the Archer VR900 we have a device which impresses. The glossy plastic areas have a flawless finish, the matt also good and we like the silver trim which as well as adding some style also keeps the router very stable. Installation of the antenna is easy, just screw on and the port layout is good. In an ideal world we’d have switched the USB ports so the faster 3.0 spec connector was the easier to access side port. Minor issue though in an otherwise good layout… it is also good to see that TP-Link have included non essential features that some users like such as the ability to disable the LEDs.

As far as setup goes, super simple. On a cable connection it is very much plug and play. For ADSL/VDSL the wizard walks us through the configuration nicely, even catering for specific ISPs. Once that is complete the router essentially manages itself but it is good to know there is an intuitive, responsive admin panel waiting for us if needed. This includes all the key features we would expect from a modern product some of which are essential in the home environment. There is only one item to keep in mind. Those looking to use an external modem, 3G/4G, ADSL or cable will want to head into the advanced menu and select the mode to have the router report the correct info elsewhere in the interface.

Performance also good, giving a signal which was competitive with other routers in the same price range and in real world tests the VR900 was able to stream multiple HD videos at the same time while also serving devices browsing the net, gaming, etc.

Summary: Solid design and good build quality with all the key features needed. Good performance and compatibility too.
