Microsoft Announces Windows 10 Anniversary Update

27363-c154c6ac_945_556

Microsoft Build 2016 conference was scheduled today in San Franciso. After announcing that Windows 10 is running on 270 million devices, a number that will likely cross the 400 million mark this year based on this adoption rate, the company also announced a new update for the OS.

Windows 10 users are expected to receive a new update for free. Dubbed the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, the software improvements will be available for PCs, tablets, phones, Xbox One, Microsoft HoloLens and IoT.

There are four big improvements:

1.Windows Hello – biometric security feature to apps and Microsoft Edge
2.Windows Ink – support for pen, enabling you to write on your device as you do on paper
3.Cortana – offer improved suggestions throughout the day
4.UWP apps come to Xbox through a Unified Windows Store and every Xbox One can become a dev kit
5.Support for Microsoft’s HoloLens augmented-reality headset.

The update is said to arrive in summer, but the exact date is not yet known. Hopefully there won’t be any delays, like it was with the Windows 10 Mobile.
