Oculus and HTC are having some trouble dealing with their virtual reality headset orders. On the Rift’s side, unexpected component shortages have resulted in delays and on the Vive’s side, some customers have lost their orders due to illegitimate cancellations.
Executives at Oculus acknowledged the delays, stating the company will now offer free shipping on all domestic and international orders.
HTC has said less about its issues, but a number of customers say their orders were cancelled due to a billing problem. Either their card number was incorrect or HTC’s billing system didn’t work, resulting in orders being declined on April 1. Further, customers weren’t given the opportunity to fix their payment method.
Buyers have reportedly dealt with HTC’s customer service department for hours trying to fix the cancellation issue. For some, that ordeal has led to orders being reinstated, but not everyone has been that lucky.
